About the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation
FUNDING PRIORITIES
We warmly welcome applications from progressive organizations, working in faith-related spaces. We prioritize applications from organizations that are openly welcoming and affirming, and organizations that do not discriminate.
Applications that are most likely to receive funding are those from the organization types noted below, with impacts in multiple communities, and focused on the categories below. More information on our processes for funding can be found on our FAQ page.
We define faith broadly, and most often fund three types of organizations:
-
-
- Progressive Baptist organizations and institutions
- Faith-based, nonprofit organizations that share the Foundation’s ethical sensitivities
- Nonprofit organizations that guard the separation between church and state
-
We most often fund projects focused on separation of church and state, far-reaching interfaith projects, and other topics critical to faith in our democracy. Within this broad framework, we most often fund projects that focus on:
-
-
- Social justice and advocacy
- Faith-based journalism
- Meeting basic human needs
- Faith-based post-secondary education
- Inclusivity initiatives
- Arts and enrichment
-
There are several areas frequently inquired about that we are regretfully unable to support:
-
-
- Individuals, or personal needs
- Business assistance
- For profit endeavors, organizations, or institutions
- Internal-facing church projects, unless we have a pre-existing relationship with your congregation
- Undergraduate scholarships
- Most Preschool or K-12 education programs
- Lobbying
-
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at info@baughfoundation.org if you have questions about whether your project or grant proposal is within the categories stated above.
